A real "wow" factor amaryllis, ‘Minerva’ shows itself off with eye-catching bright red blooms and a contrasting central star. A favourite to grow indoors in many households, amaryllis are renowned for their showy blooms and this variety is no exception!
You can decide when they want them to flower – winter, spring, early summer. Simply keep cool and dry, until you want to plant them.
Bulbs should flower 10 - 12 weeks after planting, depending on conditions.

How to Grow

Plant amaryllis bulbs in containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No.2., and place in a bright, warm position in full sun. Plant amaryllis bulbs so that the shoulders of the bulb protrude above ground level. Water only sparingly until the stems appear.

Gradually increase watering as the stems develop, and feed amaryllis plants regularly during active growth. After flowering, deadhead the faded blooms and cut away the old stems from their base, leaving the foliage intact. Continue to feed and water amaryllis bulbs until the leaves begin to yellow and die back and the bulb enters its dormant period. During dormancy, keep the compost just moist and move containers of amaryllis to a cool, dry position until active grown begins again. Container-grown amaryllis bulbs should only be repotted every 3 to 5 years as they resent root disturbance and prefer to be slightly pot bound.
