Description

Agapanthus 'Black Arrow' is a stunning cultivar of the African lily, celebrated for its captivating beauty and remarkable adaptability. This versatile plant can elevate any garden setting with its distinctive deep violet-blue flowers and dark purple stems, which create a striking visual contrast.

Blooming in the summer, it is winter-hardy down to -15°C (5°F), making it suitable for a range of climates. Preferring well-drained soil and full sun, it requires regular watering, particularly during dry spells. Ideal for borders, containers, or as a garden focal point, it also makes for excellent cut flowers in arrangements. To promote continuous blooming, simply remove spent flowers, and in colder regions, mulching is recommended to protect the roots during winter.

With a mature height of about 70 cm (28 inches) and a compact growth habit, this plant is a must-have for any garden enthusiast.

More Info
Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
