Thompson & Morgan is delighted to have won an award at the highly-regarded Anglian Business Awards which took place on July 4th at Trinity Park in Ipswich.
The awards are designed to recognise business success in a number of areas including Medium to Large Business, Small Business, Start-ups, Innovation, Environment and Training. Businesses and individuals from across Suffolk and north Essex were competing for a total of 15 trophies.
Thompson & Morgan had been shortlisted in 2 categories Innovation and Medium to Large Business and was thrilled to win the award for Innovation. In this category, judges were looking for a ‘product, which has been developed within the organisation and has made a significant impact in its marketplace’. Thompson & Morgan recently won Flower of the Year at the prestigious RHS Chelsea Flower Show for its new Foxglove ‘Illumination Pink’. We expect to sell 150,000 plants over a 12 month period which would make Foxglove ‘Illumination Pink’ our best selling perennial ever!
Thompson & Morgan is very proud of its breeding work and other successes include the climbing Fuchsia ‘Lady in Black’ and the scented and cascading Begonia ‘Apricot Fragrant Falls’ currently in the Alan Titchmarsh spring range. As well as, the innovative and award winning Dwarf Patio Buddleia ‘Buzz’® that won Best New Product in the Grower of the Year awards in 2010.
Archant Suffolk events manager Chris Grover said this year’s competition had attracted high quality entries from businesses keen to demonstrate their achievements. He said it was clear from the standard of entries that Suffolk had many business that were thriving, despite continuing to operate in a tough economic environment, and the awards judges had a challenging task to single out winners.
