The Kew Flowerhouse range of seeds from Thompson and Morgan has been specially created alongside the experts at Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew to bring the beauty of the garden inside. This outstanding range of handpicked seeds are perfect for enjoying in the garden or in the home. This range includes show-stopping flowers and elegant floral fillers ideal for a bouquet.
Zinnia elegans ‘Queen Red Lime’ is a strikingly unusual variety which has earned an RHS Award of Garden Merit. Deep maroon centres are surrounded by contrasting lime-green petals which bleed out into pale red edges. The stiff, densely petalled blooms are held on strong stems and like all zinnias, they make fabulous cut flowers. They are equally worthy in a mixed border or jostling amongst vegetables in potager schemes where their nectar rich blooms attract beneficial insects. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 30cm (12").

1 Packet (20 Seeds) (KC9724)
Direct sow zinnia seeds outdoors where they are to grow from April to May once the soil has warmed. Choose a position in full sun on moist, well drained soil which has been raked to a fine tilth. Sow seeds thinly, at a depth of 3mm (?") in drills spaced 30cm (12") apart. Water the ground regularly, especially during dry periods. Germination usually takes 7-14 days. When zinnia seedlings are large enough to handle, thin them out to 23cm (9") apart.
Alternatively, sow indoors from March to April at a temperature of 15-25C (59-77F). After sowing, keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged and do not exclude light as this helps germination. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions. When zinnia plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting outdoors. Plant zinnias in fertile, well drained soil in full sun. When growing zinnias pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage branching and form a bushier plant which will produce more flowers later on.
