Description

Weigela 'Picobella Bianco' is a compact, deciduous shrub celebrated for its profusion of pristine white flowers and its elegant, rounded form. This plant is particularly well-suited for smaller gardens or container arrangements, providing a refined aesthetic that enhances any landscape.

The growth habit of 'Picobella Bianco' is characterized by its bushy, dense branching, which supports narrow, lance-shaped mid-green leaves. These leaves serve as a fine-textured backdrop for the striking trumpet-shaped blooms that emerge in abundance from late spring through summer, ensuring a long period of visual interest.

This hardy shrub thrives in full sun, although it can tolerate partial shade, and prefers moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. It is adaptable to various soil types and requires moderate watering, especially during dry spells in its first year. With low maintenance needs, a simple post-flowering prune will help maintain its shape and promote further blooming, making it an excellent choice for borders, low hedges, or patio containers while also attracting beneficial pollinators like bees.

How to Grow
Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
