Description How to Grow More Info Delivery Reviews
Winner in the 'Best New Bedding Plant' category at the Grower of the Year Awards 2013, this is one of the most exciting wallflowers to emerge in recent years. Dense, fragrant flower spikes in shades of cream, yellow, red and purple appear not only in the spring, but throughout the autumn too, blooming in just 6 weeks from an August planting! With a delightful sweet fragrance and compact, multi-branching habit, Wallflower 'Sugar Rush' is perfect for beds, borders, containers and window boxes, creating a mass of colour and scent when much of the garden is dormant. Versatile and undemanding, wallflowers are tough enough to cope in even the poorest soils. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Culinary note: The tender young shoots can be cooked and eaten as a vegetable. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Flowering Months
Feed and water plants until they are fully established. Trim back Wallflower 'Sugar Rush' in late autumn or early winter after flowering has finished, to prevent them from becoming leggy.
Pot up wallflower plants using free-draining compost, and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outside. When plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting outdoors on free draining soil in full sun. Erysimum plants are tolerant of most neutral or alkaline soils and will even cope well on very poor soils.

Disappointing in 2015 2015-04-22

When I grew these in 2013/14 they produced lovely plants throughout the winter and following spring. Sadly, this season they've been very disappointing, succumbing to grey mould from early in the autumn and producing poor results this spring. I'll have to rethink what to buy for next season, but it won't be Sugar Rush.

Fabulous Display 2014-04-22

Thank you T&M for the advice to pot these up on autumn for the coming spring. What wonderful little plants and well worth getting early for a grand display. Bright colours which have been admired by many. I think a lot more are going to be customers of yours and will certainly be buying these. Something very different for your spring garden. Not forgetting the gorgeous scent! Mrs C Nolan East Lothian
