A superb RHS AGM variety, Tomato 'Suncherry Premium' is one of the sweetest tasting, red-skinned cherry tomatoes available, making the perfect complement to our ever popular orange-skinned variety 'Sungold'. Huge crops of shiny, bite-sized red fruits ripen early and continue to be produced throughout the summer. This cordon variety is best grown in the greenhouse, but will also grow in a sheltered, sunny spot outdoors. Height: 200cm (79"). Spread: 50cm (20").

Companion planting: Try growing tomatoes with French marigolds to deter whitefly, and basil, chives or mint to deter aphids and other pests.

Sowing Months Flowering Months Harvest Months

Water tomato plants frequently, to keep the compost evenly moist. Feed tomatoes regularly with a high potash plant food once the first truss of fruit has formed.

Tie the main stems to their supports and remove any sideshoots that develop between the main stem and the leaf stems. Once the plant has produced 6 or 7 trusses, pinch out the top of the main stem. This process of 'sideshooting' and 'stopping' will increase the availability of light and air movement around the developing fruit, and focus the plants energy on producing a good crop of high quality tomatoes. Tomatoes can be harvested as they ripen from July to October.

For greenhouse cultivation: sow from February to April.

For outdoor cultivation: sow from March to April.

Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed sowing mix and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place seed trays in a propagator at a constant temperature of around 15-20C (59-68F) until after germination, which takes 7-14 days. When seedlings gain 2 true leaves, transplant into individual 7.5cm (3") pots of compost and grow on at a minimum temperature of 15C (59F).

When growing in a glasshouse tomato plants may be transplanted at the end of May or when the first flowers are showing, if earlier. Allow 3 plants per growbag, or one per 25cm (10") pot, or plant tomatoes directly into the greenhouse soil.

When growing tomatoes outdoors, wait until all risk of frost has passed before transplanting tomatoes. Gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 - 10 days before planting out from early June when tomato plants are 20cm (8") tall. Choose a sheltered position in full sun on fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, and transplant at a distance of 60cm (24") apart. Drive a (5') cane into the soil adjacent to each plant to support them as they grow, and tie each main stem to its support with soft garden twine.

First year but not the last 2016-08-17

First year I've grown these, previously just grown Sungold. Liked the flavour and the fruits are a good size and don't seem to split quite as easily as Sungold. They make a nice addition to a salad along with the Sungold.

Seeds 2014-04-14

Seeds came on time, the previous review said 5/6 germinated, i actually got 8 seeds in my packet and all of them germinated, which is excellent. To be fair i think 1-2 of the seeds were tiny and perhaps if you were to asses them visually it wouldnt fill you with hope that they will germinate. So far so good. Thanks T&M

Fantastic cropper! 2012-09-25

First year I have grown this variety but really early cropping. Good yield in greenhouse and outside. Lousy summer but still produced 6 trusses on south facing patio.

Really sweet 2011-08-17

Agree with the reviews, this tomatos are really sweet. My garden is half sun so didn't get as many fruit as a friend of my who's balconay is in full sun. Same excellent quality though. five out six seeds germinated.

Suncherry Premium 2011-08-08

This is the tastiest tomato I have ever grown. Germination was 100% and the tomatoes cropped well and looked good - shiny and bright red. Just like good tomatoes should be. Try grilling them - the taste is out of this world. Even better than when eaten raw.

Poor germination 2011-03-01

Fantastic tomatoes, sweet, juicy, plentiful - but of my six seeds only two germinated, so that was disappointing. Should I buy two packets this year? Hmmm. Rather expensive. Decisions decisions.

Suncherry Premium F1 Hybrid 2010-09-29

These are the best tomatoes you'll ever taste! Better than the most expensive Waitrose cherry tom. They also produce a huge crop. I didnt even use feed and had top results. Also I had 8 seeds in the packet, not sure if this is the norm though.
