Syringa meyeri 'Flowerfesta® Purple'Lilac

A small shrub with big ambitions, Syringa meyeri 'Flowerfesta® Purple' really earns its place in tight spaces. Large, once-flowering lilacs are hard to justify in a small garden, but this lilac is small, delicate and repeat-blooming – producing a big flush of purple panicles in early summer, followed by another flush in autumn. The airy panicles are larger than other meyeri cultivars and their sweet scent deserves a spot near seating where you can fully enjoy their perfume.

Fine branches are clothed in small, oval leaves, quite different to the large, heart-shaped leaves of common lilacs, lending the whole shrub a very elegant appearance. Despite its dainty habit, this is a robust and hardy shrub which makes a fine pot specimen but is equally suited to massed planting in perennial borders. Height and spread: 125cm (49in).
