Description
Succulents are always popular houseplants. Now you can fill your house for the cost of a packet of seed! The characterful plants gain the attention of young and old, looking good in any room of the home, while lending to any design style with the right accompanying pot. Many in the mix will go on to throw intriguing flower spikes over their fleshy rosettes once mature. Height: up to 30cm (12in). Spread: up to 20cm (8in).

1 packet (25 succulent seeds) (KB9350)

Sowing

Sow from January to April on the surface of a free draining, gritty compost and cover with a very fine sprinkling of silver sand. Place in a propagator or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag, maintaining a temperature of 20-25C (68-77F) until after germination, which can be erratic and usually takes between 1 - 3 months. Do not exclude light as this helps germination.

Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into trays or 5cm (2”) pots of gritty potting mix and continue to grow in warm conditions. Once they are well grown, pot cactus plants on into 7.5cm (3"") pots, and water carefully until established.

More Info
Succulent plants are slow growing so a little patience is required. Grow in full light with some shelter from the hottest sun. In summer, water regularly with soft water or rain water. Allow the compost to dry out slightly between watering. In winter, while the plant is dormant, gradually reduce watering and allow the compost to remain dry. An average temperature of 10-23C (50-75F) is ideal, although many succulents can tolerate lower temperatures down to a minimum of 5C (40F).
