A small tree with spreading branches bearing fragrant, bell-shaped white flowers in spring or summer. The leaves of this deciduous tree are finely pointed and ovate, turning yellow and orange in autumn. Height: 12m (39'). Spread: 8m (26').

Easy to grow in moist, humus-rich, fertile soils, but shelter from cold drying winds.

Styrax is reasonably hardy but does require shelter from cold winds.
