Description

Salvia microphylla 'So Cool Pale Blue' is a delightful addition to any garden, celebrated for its compact, bushy form and enchanting pale blue flowers that exude a cool elegance. This shrubby sage thrives in sunny environments, making it an excellent choice for brightening borders, raised beds, and decorative containers. Its long flowering season, which stretches from late spring through autumn, not only enhances the visual appeal of your outdoor spaces but also attracts a myriad of pollinators, including bees and butterflies, thereby contributing to a vibrant ecosystem.

The foliage of 'So Cool Pale Blue' is equally captivating, featuring small, aromatic green leaves that possess a fine texture and a delightful fragrance. This semi-evergreen plant maintains its lush appearance in milder UK climates, providing year-round interest. The soft pale blue flowers, tinged with a hint of lavender, create a stunning contrast against the verdant backdrop, ensuring that this sage remains a focal point in any garden setting. Its preference for full sun and well-drained soil allows it to flourish, while its ability to tolerate poorer soils once established makes it a versatile choice for various planting schemes.

In terms of maintenance, this hardy sage requires minimal intervention, making it an ideal option for both novice and experienced gardeners. A light trim after flowering, followed by another in spring once the threat of frost has passed, will help maintain its shape and encourage fresh growth. With an ultimate height and spread of approximately 50 cm (20 inches), Salvia microphylla 'So Cool Pale Blue' is perfectly sized for borders, containers, and gravel gardens, all while providing a stunning display that delights the senses and supports local wildlife.
