Flowering Months

Salvia 'Amistad' is an exceptionally beautiful new variety. Exquisite rich purple flowers are carried on tall, near-black stems above a mound of lush green foliage. With regular deadheading, this magnificent hardy perennial can bloom almost continuously from May right through to October, attracting a host of bees and butterflies throughout the season. Ornamental Sage has long been a stalwart of cottage garden borders, and this one is no exception. Perfect for exotic planting schemes and wildlife gardens too. Height: 120cm (48"). Spread: 50cm (20").

How to Grow

Salvia plants prefer a moist, but well-drained soil in full sun, although once established they can also be very drought resistant. Salvia ‘Amistad’ will appreciate a sheltered position with protection from strong winds and particularly hard frosts.

Water regularly until salvia plants are fully established. Deadhead faded flowers throughout the summer to encourage more blooms to be produced.
