Description

Winner of the Rose of the Year for 2023, this concoction of peach and crushed strawberry is simply gorgeous. Trialled for two years on health, vigour, fragrance and ease of care, Rosa ‘Peach Melba’ is a deserved winner of the competition. Repeat flowering through the summer, it bears cup-shaped, fragrant blooms in delicately blended shades of apricot and pink. Classed as a short climber, it’s perfect for smaller walls or even growing in a large container. The blooms are borne on plants with a bushy, erect habit which are resistant to blackspot, mildew and rust. Height: 200cm (78”). Spread: 150cm (60”)

How to Grow
Plant bareroot roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole. Stems of climbing roses will require training against a suitable support such as a pergola, fence or wall.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late summer begin pruning climbing roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged stems. For the first two years the remaining stems should be trained horizontally on wires. From the third year, the main stems can be reduced to maintain the plant within the available growing space. Side shoots should be reduced to 3 buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
