Description

Rose 'New Dawn' is a timeless climbing rose celebrated for its vigorous growth and delicate blush-pink flowers. This variety is particularly admired for its ability to produce an abundance of blooms throughout the growing season, from early summer all the way into autumn. The semi-double flowers not only add a touch of elegance to any garden but also emit a light, sweet fragrance that enhances the overall sensory experience of the outdoor space. Its robust nature and repeat-flowering capability make it a cherished choice for gardeners looking to create a vibrant and inviting atmosphere.

With its arching, flexible stems, Rose 'New Dawn' rose is exceptionally versatile, making it ideal for training over various structures such as pergolas, trellises, and fences. Its glossy, mid-green foliage not only provides a beautiful backdrop for the stunning blooms but also boasts good disease resistance, ensuring that the plant remains healthy and vigorous. This climbing rose is particularly accommodating, as it tolerates partial shade better than many other varieties, allowing it to thrive in a range of garden conditions. Additionally, its ability to attract bees and other pollinators makes it a valuable addition to any eco-friendly garden.

Fully hardy in the UK, the 'New Dawn' rose is a reliable choice for gardeners seeking a resilient climbing plant. To maintain its shape and encourage healthy growth, it is recommended to prune the rose after flowering. With a potential height of 350 cm (138 inches) and a spread of 250 cm (98 inches), this climbing rose can create a stunning vertical display, transforming walls, fences, and arches into breathtaking floral showcases. Whether used to enhance a garden's aesthetic or to provide a habitat for pollinators, the 'New Dawn' rose remains a beloved staple in the world of horticulture.

How to Grow
Plant potted roses at the earliest opportunity. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In winter, begin pruning floribunda roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce the stems to 20cm (10") above ground level. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
