Description

Rose 'Nevada' is a timeless shrub rose that captivates with its stunning large flowers, which showcase a creamy white hue accented by a gentle pink blush. This variety is not only visually appealing but also boasts an impressive display of bright red hips in the autumn, adding a vibrant touch to any garden. Its hardy nature and vigorous growth make it an excellent choice for those looking to create naturalistic gardens or wildlife-friendly spaces, where it can thrive alongside various plants and attract beneficial pollinators.

The rose features an upright growth habit with gracefully arching canes, complemented by its attractive grey-green foliage. The blooms, which can be semi-double to fully double, typically appear once in early summer, creating a spectacular show that draws the eye and invites admiration. Additionally, the mildly fragrant flowers are known to attract bees and butterflies, making it a delightful addition for gardeners who appreciate the presence of wildlife in their outdoor spaces.

Exceptionally resilient, Rose 'Nevada' is well-suited for mixed borders, informal hedges, and wildlife gardens, thriving even in less-than-ideal soil conditions and exposed environments. Fully hardy in the UK, this rose can reach a height of approximately 200 cm (79 inches) and spread to about 150 cm (59 inches), making it a substantial presence in any garden setting. Its disease resistance further enhances its appeal, ensuring that it remains a low-maintenance yet stunning choice for both novice and experienced gardeners alike.

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late winter, begin pruning shrub roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged branches. Then reduce strong young stems by up to a third of their length. Side shoots should be reduced to two buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
