Description
An exceptionally vigorous rambler with long arching, thorny, stems. From July through September, masses of single, white flowers are borne in weeping clusters with a strong musk fragrance, which provides a treat for the senses. The blooms are followed by masses of tiny, orange-red hips throughout the autumn and winter which are loved by birds. Rose 'Kiftsgate' has a strong growth habit that will require a large wall, mature tree or sturdy structure to ramble over. It is shade tolerant making this a useful variety for a north facing position. Height: 11m (36'). Spread: 8m (26').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant roses at the earliest opportunity following delivery. To avoid the risk from the build-up of harmful soil organisms and disease, choose an open position in full sun that has not been planted with roses in recent years. Roses enjoy a rich, fertile, well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting roses and add a small handful of granular fertiliser to the planting hole.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water rose plants regularly and deadhead faded flowers. When growing roses it is necessary to remove any suckers that arise from the base of the plant, below the graft union. In late summer begin pruning climbing roses by removing dead and diseased wood, and any rubbing or damaged stems. For the first two years the remaining stems should be trained horizontally on wires. From the third year, the main stems can be reduced to maintain the plant within the available growing space. Side shoots should be reduced to 3 buds. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant after pruning.
