For best results, provide a humus-rich, moist, well-drained soil in full sun or part shade.

Sow February to June or September to October on the surface of lightly firmed, moist seed compost in pots or trays. Cover seed with a light sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Keep at a temperature of between 15-20C (59-68F). After sowing, do not exclude light as this helps germination. Keep the surface of the compost moist but not waterlogged; germination can take 14-30 days.

When large enough to handle, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3 inch)pots or trays. Gradually acclimatise young plants to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12 inches)apart.

Low germination success 2016-07-20

Few seeds germinated but the few that have are looking very healthy. I expect them to reach mature size in a couple of years.

T&M replied on 2016-07-21: Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with the germination rate. At your earliest convenience please contact our Customer Care Department at ccare@thompson-morgan.com, one of our agents will be more than happy to look into this further for you. However I am glad to hear that those which have germinated are doing well. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.

Five seeds germinated (Even in Winter) 2015-11-29

I wanted to plant my seeds before first frost, but the weather was cold around 08degrees C at night. But the seeds germinated and have three leaves now. Thanks to Thompson and Morgan for providing a variety of seeds to us.

T&M replied on 2015-11-30: Thank you very much for your review. I am glad that you have been happy with your purchase. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.
