Flowering Months

This beguiling little perennial produces deep red, bell shaped flowers in mid-spring, from large furry buds. The blooms appear above clumps of finely dissected foliage, covered in a downy layer of hairs, giving a soft, fuzzy appearance. As the flowers fade, they are replaced by intriguing silky seed heads that extend the season of interest into summer. Pulsatilla rubra is a superb choice for well drained rockeries and gravel gardens, or planted in alpine troughs. Height: 25cm (10"). Spread: 20cm (8").

How to Grow

Grow Pulsatilla on fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Pasque Flowers resent wet soils, so add some grit to the soil where necessary, prior to planting. Choose a location where they won’t be disturbed as Pulsatilla dislike root disturbance once established.
