Description
A relatively new variety of laurel, Prunus laurocerasus 'Novita' has proven to be an extremely hardy cultivar, being far more resilient in colder weather than its relatives. It is similar in habit in all other ways to other Cherry Laurel shrubs, having large dark green leaves and an evergreen nature, making it useful as a hedging or screening plant or equally at home as a shaped specimen plant. White flowers appear in spring which form large dark berries in autumn, which are attractive to wildlife too. Height: 5m (16'). Spread: 4m (13').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Cherry Laurel plants in sun or shade, in any moderately fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Prunus shrubs at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil. When planting a Cherry Laurel hedge, position the individual plants at a distance of 75cm (2’,6") apart.
More Info
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Once established, Prunus plants require only occasional attention, removing any damaged stems and lightly trimming those that spoil the shape of the plant in summer after flowering. If grown as a hedge, Cherry Laurel can be trimmed from early to mid spring, and tolerates hard pruning when necessary.
