Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
A popular choice for hedging in the UK; Privet is easy to grow, tolerant of pollution and drought resistant. Hedges can last many years, are fast-growing, easy to trim and maintain, and are generally untroubled by pests and diseases. Ligustrum ovalifolium is ideal for any size of garden, in sun or deep shade, and makes a neat and tidy hedge of any shape. Plants will produce clusters of white flowers, but this is unlikely if hedges are trimmed regularly. Supplied as 60 - 90 cm bare roots (24 - 35") Height: 4m (13'). Spread: 4m (13'). Planting distance: 30cm (12"). (4 plants per metre for a single line hedge).

Flowering Months
Ligustrum can be grown as a free-standing shrub or trained as a hedge. Free-standing shrubs will require minimal pruning; simply removed any dead, damaged or diseased growth each spring. Trim hedges in May and again in August. After pruning, mulch plants with 5cm (2") of well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plants.
Grow Privet in any well-drained soil in sun or partial shade. Plants will tolerate a wide range of soils, from sand to chalk and clay, and areas of pollution.
