Flowering Months
Polyanthus make colourful bedding plants, or grow them in containers and borders or in any fertile, moist, well drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or semi shade. During the winter, avoid over watering which may cause the plant to rot in cold conditions. Deadhead faded polyanthus flower stems throughout the flowering period to encourage more blooms to be produced.
Pot up Polyanthus plants and grow them on for transplanting at a later date. Grow plug plants in bright, frost-free conditions, watering sparingly until they are fully rooted in. When all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise polyanthus plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days, prior to planting out in their final positions.

November fireworks 2016-02-12

Mine are garden ready and I put them in the refreshed tomato compost on top of tulips daffs iris and crocus. Flowering strongly throughout November; both primrose and denticula forms. Those in my sons borders are flowering now too. Nice surprise I expected a 6 month wait.

Fabulous blaze of colour 2015-04-25

Arrived as good quality plug plants which established well over the autumn. Planted in borders and also in a winter hanging basket towards the end of last year and was pleased with how well they survived the wintery conditions. I now have beautiful displays of colour in my yellowy red border and they also look great peaking up at the top of hanging baskets against a selection of purple winter pansies. Am really happy with these plants.

Absolutely spectacular! 2015-03-04

Such vibrant colours - seeing them on a horrible, winter/spring day, really cheers one up. And on a good day - still cheers one up.

A real winner. 2014-02-24

These are a real winner. I love the colours, each stem reminds me of a miniature blazing torch. I've planted them throughout the borders among snowdrops and pansy Matrix, where they all compliment each other. I've also got some planted in baskets with pansy Plentifall, the two make a lovely combination with the Firecracker standing up in the middle and the pansies tumbling down the outside of the basket. When the plants in the baskets have finished flowering I'll plant them in a shady corner and replant them in baskets later on in the year, ready for another display to look forward to next year. Thank you for your review. I hope we can continue to be of service.
