Flowering Months

Lythrum salicaria 'Robert' is a well loved cultivar bearing tall branching spikes of rose pink flowers. This upright hardy perennial makes a showy display in damp borders or in the very shallow margins of ponds, adding a strong vertical element to planting schemes. Always irresistible to pollinating insects, Purple Loosestrife makes an excellent contribution to wildlife areas. Height: 90cm (36"). Spread: 45cm (18"). Planting depth: Zones 1 & 2 to 5cm (2") below water level.

How to Grow

Grow Purple Loosestrife in reliably moist, well-drained soil in a sunny border or submerged in the shallow margins of ponds with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 5cm (2") below water level. Choose a position in full sun.

Feed and water regularly until plants are fully established. Deadhead faded Lythrum flowers to encourage a second flush of blooms to be produced.
