Description
A cross between a raspberry and blackberry, the loganberry is generally slightly longer than a raspberry with a juicier and sharper flavour. Loganberry plants are sturdy and more disease and frost resistant than many other berry hybrids and will usually produce fruit throughout August and September Berries should be allowed to darken to a deep purple colour before picking to obtain the best-flavoured fruit. Loganberries are undemanding and easy to grow, and continue to fruit for around 15 years. Height: 2m (6'). Spread: 2.5m (8').

Estimated time to cropping once planted: 16-20 months (4-8 months for 3l potted plant).
Estimated time to best yields: 28-32 months (16-20 months for 3l potted plant).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant loganberry bushes in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the ground prior to planting. When growing loganberry plants, support the stems on a framework of wires stretched between sturdy 1.8m (6') posts, or trained against a trellis or wall.

More Info
Water well for the first year until loganberry plants are fully established. Train the stems onto their supports as they grow. Cover the plants with netting to protect the crop from birds as loganberry fruits begin to develop. Loganberry fruits can be harvested from August onwards. In autumn, prune the canes which have fruited over summer to ground level. Canes which have not fruited should be 'tied in' to their supports. In spring, while the ground is moist, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes to improve moisture retention throughout the summer.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
