Koelreuteria paniculata 'Coral Sun' captivates from the very first glance with its dramatic seasonal palette in both spring and autumn.
Pinnate leaves up to 50cm long emerge glowing pink in spring carried on bright coral-red stems. The foliage transitions to lush yellow?green through summer, contrasting beautifully with the pink stems. In midsummer, airy panicles of bright yellow flowers appear drawing pollinators to the garden. Before leaf fall, its foliage shifts to brilliant shades of gold and orange, its autumn colour rivalling the best acers. Meanwhile, the flowers develop into bladder like fruit that ripen to yellow and red, adding additional seasonal appeal. This small to medium deciduous tree combines ornamental foliage, attractive blooms and decorative seed pods for multi?season appeal in larger gardens or as a striking specimen. RHS Recommended: Award of Garden Merit.
Ultimate height: 8m (26.2ft) to 12m (29ft). Ultimate spread: 8m + (26.2ft).

1 x 5 Litre Potted Plant (KH9735)
Grow Koelreuteria in a sunny, sheltered position protected from cold winds in freely draining soil. Will tolerate shallow calcareous soils. When planting, plant at the same level as the level of the nursery pot or just above, ensuring that the root flare is not buried. For large trees provide suitable support with posts and tree ties. Maintain a 1m diameter circle of bare ground around the tree to prevent competition from grass and weeds for water and nutrients. Failure to do this will significantly affect the growth of the tree. Water well in the first two years until the tree is well established. Take special care during dry springs.
