Description
An impressive Hydrangea, flowering right the way through summer with pure white star-shaped flowers, fading to deep pink in late autumn. The flowers are extremely fragrant and being recognised as RHS plants for pollinators, this hardy, deciduous shrub is particularly wildlife friendly. Hydrangea paniculata 'Great Star' is a strong growing, well-branched shrub with ovate green leaves and blooms perfect for using in cut flower displays. A lovely addition to a cottage garden or woodland border and equally impressive in a large patio container. Height: 1.5m (5'). Spread: 1m (3').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Hydrangea paniculata prefers a sunny or semi-shaded position, with shelter from cold, drying winds. Grow hydrangea plants in any non-alkaline, fertile, moist soil. Improve the soil prior to planting by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply.
More Info
Leave the faded hydrangea flower heads in place until the new buds swell in spring to protect the delicate buds from frost damage. Prune the old stems after flowering, leaving the new growth in situ, as this Hyfrangea flowers on new growth unlike most others. If necessary, Hydrangea paniculata will tolerate hard pruning of the oldest stems to a few buds from ground level. This will also encourage larger flower heads to be produced. After pruning hydrangeas, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: All parts of hydrangea will upset the stomach if eaten. The foliage may also aggravate skin allergies.
Caution

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten
