Description
This vigorous, Japanese Honeysuckle produces an abundance of honey-scented blooms throughout summer which are always busy with pollinating insects. The tubular flowers emerge pure white and slowly age to a deep, buttery yellow, followed by glossy black berries. Dark green foliage covers the twining stems and remains semi-evergreen in mild areas. This twining Lonicera thrives in most aspects but flourishes in dappled shade. Honeysuckle 'Hall's Prolific' a particularly useful climber for growing through deciduous hedges and trees to provide a showy summer display and a little winter colour. Height: 8m (26’). Spread: 2m (6’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant honeysuckle against a suitable, sturdy support such as trellis or strong wires attached to walls and pergolas, in fertile, moist, free draining soil. Poor soils can be improved by adding plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. Choose a position in sun or semi-shade. When growing honeysuckle in patio containers, use soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3.
More Info
Feed and water lonicera regularly throughout the growing season until they are fully established. Check young shoot tips regularly as honeysuckle plants are susceptible to aphid damage, particularly when grown in full sun. Prune immediately after flowering, first removing the oldest stems, then reducing the remaining stems to restrict their vigorous growth to the available space. Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant in spring. Caution: Honeysuckle berries are harmful if eaten.
