Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
Stunning pale blue, double flowers are produced on this RHS AGM winning tree hollyhock. The centre of each flower has a neat swirl of smaller petals, making Hibiscus syriacus 'Blue Chiffon' extremely pleasing on the eye. This deciduous shrub flowers from late summer into autumn, together with green, lobed leaves for the majority of the year. You can't help but appreciate how stunning and carefully designed this plant is. Will withstand most weather conditions, unlike some others varieties. Height: 2.5m (8'). Spread: 1.5m (5').

Culinary note: The flowers can be infused to make a mildly citrus flavoured tea. The petals can be cut and added to fruit salads too. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Flowering Months
Feed and water hibiscus regularly until fully established. Apply a dry mulch such as bark chips to the base if the plant in autumn to protect from winter cold. Prune hibiscus in late spring, removing any stems that have died back or been damaged over winter. Hibiscus are often one of the last shrubs in the garden to break bud, so be patient with plants that are slow to start into growth in spring - they may remain dormant until May!
Grow Hibiscus on rich fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, in full sun. When growing hibiscus plants in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3.
