Flowering Months

Fully double, scarlet red Geum flowers rise above clumps of foliage on thin, wiry stems. Geum 'Blazing Sunset' adds a bright splash of colour to borders - the large flowers make a dazzling and unusual addition to cut flower arrangements too. These colourful hardy perennials are so easy to grow that we can't understand why they're not more commonly grown! Height and spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow

Geums dislike soils which are prone to waterlogging in winter. Plant them in moist, fertile, well drained soil, adding plenty of compost or well rotted manure to amend heavy clay or sandy soils. Choose a position towards the front of the border in full sun.

Water Avens plants regularly until fully established. Regular deadheading will encourage more flowers to be produced throughout the summer. In spring, lift and divide overcrowded clumps of geum to maintain their vigour.
