Sizzling in orange, gold and burgundy, with bi-colours included, these Gaillardia 'Giant Hybrids' really turn up the heat in borders. With large flowers and tall stems, they bring a fun, tropical vibe to patio containers and borders where their fiery flowers will prove irresistible to bees and butterflies. This tall variety is especially good for cut flowers due to its long, sturdy stems. Excellent for sunbaked spots in poor soil. Height: 70cm (28"). Spread: 30cm (12”)

How to Grow

Grow Blanket Flower plants in any fertile, well drained soil in full sun. Plants will also cope with, and sometimes thrive in, poor, stony, gravelly soils too!

Water blanket flower plants until they are fully established. Once established gaillardia copes well with dry soils and is reasonable drought tolerant. Regular deadheading of faded gaillardia flowers will encourage more blooms to be produced. In late summer, cut back old foliage and flower stems to 15cm (6") to encourage basal growth before the first frosts.
