Description
Ideal for use in an informal hedge or screen, Escallonia rubra 'Macrantha' can also be used in a variety of situations in the garden. The dark green, glossy leaves form a dense, evergreen shrub, which easily form part of a shrubbery or border. All during summer, rosy red flowers cover this Chilean Box Gum, adding a touch of scent and also attracting pollinating insects. Height: 250cm (98"). Spread: 250cm (98").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow

More Info
Deadhead Escallonia plants regularly to encourage further blooms. During late spring, lightly cut back any shoots that spoil the symmetry of the plant. Mulch the plants with well-rotted compost or manure around the base of the plant at the same time.
