Description
English Oak (Quercus robur) tree in a pot

Quercus Robur is a magnificent deciduous tree which as it matures will form a broad and spreading crown with sturdy branches beneath. Oaks are not for the smaller spaces, reaching 30-40m tall at maturity and a canopy as broad as it is high. English Oaks support more life than any other native tree species in the UK; even its fallen leaves support biodiversity.

How to Grow
We recommend mulching and regular watering during the drier periods in the first year or so of growth.

Why buy a potted trees vs a bareroot? Cotswold Trees supply potted trees as we have found these have the best chance of survival and do allow you to plant trees throughout the year. The cooler, wetter months are always the best time to plant a tree and allow it to establish a new root system whilst it remains fairly dormant. Despite this, potted trees can be planted successfully throughout the spring and summer if they are well looked after. You may find other suppliers offer bareroot and plug plants which are often cheaper options, especially when buying trees in bulk, but these tend to take a little longer to establish.

More Info
Cotswold Trees are a specialist tree supplier, nurturing thousands of young trees in our Oxfordshire woodland nursery. We offer affordable, sustainably grown trees that can make a lasting improvement to any garden or outdoor space. We offer our customers a range of garden trees you might commonly find throughout the UK all of which are fantastic for native wildlife, but also fit in well in the British landscape. We specialise in a small variety of British broadleaved deciduous trees to ensure we can reliably stock each tree in a range of sizes to suit the instant gardener or one who can wait a few years for a tree to grow into its new home.

Shipping
Orders of small trees (up to 1m tall) are packaged carefully and delivered reliably and safely via the UK courier network. We use Parcelforce for most of our tree deliveries and will ship your tree within 2-3 working days (unless otherwise stated above), so you can expect your new trees to arrive within 5 working days. We supply tracking details for all courier deliveries.
Delivery

Delivery for items fulfilled and sold by Marketplace vendors is free of charge.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
