This Echinopsis is a superb Chamaecereus x Lobivia hybrid. The result is a hardy ‘Garden Cactus’ that can be grown outdoors, all year round in the UK! Gardeners who have grown cacti indoors will know just how little maintenance these intriguing plants need. Given a well-drained, gritty soil and good protection from the worst of the wet winter weather, they will happily survive from year to year.
Over the years they will form low growing, prickly clumps which make an unusual addition to rockeries and gravel gardens, or planted in troughs and containers on a sunny patio. Mature hardy Cactus will reward you with a colourful display of large blooms, reaching up to 6cm across on well-established plants, in a bright range of jewel-like colours.
Whilst hardy to -7C (45F) over short periods, Echinopsis (Chamaelobivia group) do require very free draining soil and will benefit from protection from wet winter weather. Provide a winter cloche where possible, or plant them in containers that can be moved under cover from autumn to spring. Height: 15cm (5"). Spread: 5cm (2").
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Hardy garden cacti are slow growing so patience is required. Water only occasionally, during very dry spells and allow the soil to dry out in winter where possible.
Whilst hardy to -7C (45F) over short periods, it is recommended that you provide a winter cloche, or plant them in containers that can be moved under cover from autumn to spring.
Caution: irritant to skin and eyes
