This new interspecific hybrid brings the strongest shade of red we’ve seen in a Sweet William. The pillar-box red flowers make an exciting display in summer beds and borders, gently perfuming the air with their sweet, spicy fragrance. Dianthus barbatus 'Rockin' Red' is a reliable hardy perennial that puts on a durable performance each year. Height: 50cm (20"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Culinary note: Use the clove like tasting petals for adding to cakes, either for flavour or decorating, suitable for soups, salads and sauces too. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Premium perennials are large plug tray plants, roughly the same size as garden ready plants like a potted plant without a pot. They will need to be acclimatised to the garden, and once all chance of frost has cleared can be planted out directly into the garden.

How to Grow

Pot up Sweet William plug plants and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting into borders and containers later on. When all risk of frost has passed, and plugs are fully rooted into their pots, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Plant Sweet Williams in beds and borders in fertile, well drained soil in full sun.

Orders for packets of seed incur a delivery charge of £2.99.

Orders which include any other products will incur a delivery charge of £6.99.

Where an order includes both packets of seeds and other products, a maximum delivery charge of £7.99 will apply - regardless of the number of items ordered.

Large Non-standard items may incur a higher, lorry delivery charge. Charges will be calculated at checkout, but an example of the lorry charges are listed below.
