Description

Dahlia 'Mango Madness' lights up the garden with an irresistible medley of pink, peach and apricot shades with blooms that can reach an astonishing 25cm across. These large, frothy flowers bring warmth and vibrancy, complementing the late-season oranges and yellows of heleniums and rudbeckias, or standing out beautifully against the cool blues and purples of asters. Their lush, voluminous form also pairs gracefully with the delicate textures of ornamental grasses, creating dynamic garden displays from June right through to the first frosts.

Perfect for late-season impact, Dahlia 'Mango Madness' ensures your borders remain lively as other plants fade. Equally striking indoors, its bold blooms make a dramatic statement when combined with cactus or pompom varieties, offering endless opportunities for show-stopping arrangements that capture attention and extend the season of colour well into autumn. Ultimate height: 1m (3.2ft) to 1.2m (4ft). Ultimate spread: 60cm (24in).

How to Grow
Plant Dahlia tubers outdoors in April after all risk of frost has passed. Choose a sunny position in moist well drained soil. Prepare the soil by digging in plenty of well rotted manure or compost. Plant tubers at a depth of 15cm (6") and water well. Alternatively, start tubers into growth in pots of compost in a frost free greenhouse. Transplant them into their final positions outdoors in June.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info

Feed and water lily bulbs regularly throughout the growing season, keeping them moist at all times. Deadhead faded blooms at the base of the flower where they join the stem to prevent the development of seed pods. When cutting lily flowers for indoor arrangements, it is important to leave a third of the stem intact in order to feed the bulb for the following year.

After flowering leave the stems intact until they begin to yellow in autumn. Reduce watering and move containers of lilies to a cool, frost free position over winter. Lilies grown in borders can be lifted, cleaned and stored for the winter, however in mild areas most lilies should survive outdoors provided that the soil is not too wet. A mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost should be applied in spring. Divide and repot container grown lilies into fresh compost every other year.
