Description
This showy patio dahlia combines a neat, compact habit with large 15cm (6"), lilac blooms. Reaching just 35cm tall, this Danish-bred dwarf dahlia is perfect for planting at the front of borders or filling patio containers with summer colour. Bursting with vigour, the Windmill Dahlia is quick to establish, producing masses of blooms over a particularly long period. With regular deadheading you can enjoy their flowers right through to autumn. Height and spread: 35cm (14").

Culinary note: All dahlia flowers and tubers are edible. The flavours and textures can vary greatly depending on the soil and conditions in which they were grown. Flavours range from water chestnut through to a spicy apple or even carrot. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Pot up Dahlia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise dahlia plants to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting out in beds, borders and containers. Choose a position in full sun on any rich fertile, moist, well drained soil.
More Info
Feed and water dahlias regularly throughout the growing season. While dahlia plants are still young, pinch out the growing tip of each stem to encourage bushier growth and masses of flowers. Deadhead faded dahlia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Bedding dahlia are generally grown as annuals, however dahlia tubers may be lifted in autumn and stored over winter in trays of peat or sand, in a cool but frost free position if required. They can be potted up the following spring.
