Description

Cryptomeria japonica 'Little Champion' is a charming, compact evergreen conifer that stands out for its neat, dome-like shape and appealing foliage, making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens or container arrangements. This slow-growing dwarf variety of Japanese cedar boasts a naturally rounded form, which adds a touch of elegance to any landscape. Its finely textured, rich green leaves are soft to the touch and maintain their vibrant color throughout the year, providing a lush backdrop for other plants.

As the seasons change, 'Little Champion' offers additional visual interest, particularly in the colder months when its foliage can take on beautiful bronze or purple-bronze hues. The leaves are awl-shaped and arranged spirally around the stems, contributing to the plant's plush appearance. This cultivar is known for its uniform growth and low-maintenance nature, requiring no pruning to keep its shape intact. Its non-invasive growth habit makes it a perfect fit for various settings, including rock gardens, small urban plots, and Asian-themed landscapes.

To thrive, Cryptomeria japonica 'Little Champion' prefers moist, humus-rich, well-drained soils that are slightly acidic to neutral. It flourishes in full sun or partial shade, but it is essential to avoid conditions that are either too dry or waterlogged. This resilient plant is generally free from pests and diseases, exhibiting good resistance to deer and air pollution, which makes it a reliable choice for many gardeners. While it is hardy in most regions of the UK, providing some protection in exposed, windy areas is advisable to ensure its continued health and beauty. Height: 60 cm (2 ft) Spread: 90 cm (3 ft).

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
