Introduce low maintenance Cordyline ‘Red Star’ into your planting schemes and enjoy effortless year-round colour and structure. This resilient evergreen shrub makes a fantastic focal point throughout the year, eventually growing tall, woody stems topped with deep red palm-like leaves. The deep red colouring remains consistent throughout the year, providing an exotic feel to the garden whatever the season. A popular choice in seaside gardens, Cordyline does best in milder parts of the UK and copes well with coastal conditions as well as exposed sites. Its narrow footing means you can easily grow it in borders and underplant it with flowers or other foliage plants. It also makes a fine feature in smaller planting spaces, such as front gardens and courtyards. Height: 3m (10’). Spread: 2m (7’).

Grow Cordylines on fertile, well drained soil. Choose a sheltered position in full sun. Cordylines are particularly well suited to mild coastal locations but do enjoy a fertile soil, so it is well worth incorporating some well rotted manure into the soil when planting.
More Info Feed and water regularly until fully established. Once established, Cordylines need little attention, but will require some winter protection should temperatures dip below-5C (23F). In cold areas it may be preferable to grow Cordylines in large patio containers that can be moved undercover during the coldest months.
