Sowing
Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost, just covering the seed with compost or vermiculite. Sow at any time of year. Germination can be slow. After sowing, seal container in a polythene bag and leave at 60-65F (15-18C) for 2 weeks, then place in a refrigerator (not freezer) for 3-6 weeks. After this return to the recommended germination temperature. If germination does not occur in 6-10 weeks return to the fridge for a further 3-6 weeks. Examine regularly whilst in the fridge and remove immediately the seeds show signs of germinating.
How to Grow
Grow Cordylines on fertile, well drained soil. Choose a sheltered position in full sun. Cordylines are particularly well suited to mild coastal locations but do enjoy a fertile soil, so it is well worth incorporating some well rotted manure into the soil when planting.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Once established, Cordylines need little attention, but will require some winter protection should temperatures dip below-5C (23F). In cold areas it may be preferable to grow Cordylines in large patio containers that can be moved undercover during the coldest months.
