Description
Lilacs are tough and undemanding, blooming profusely every spring, and requiring very little attention once established. This quintessential cottage garden shrub is loved by wildlife and gardeners for its nectar rich blooms and distinctive sweet perfume. Plant Syringa vulgaris close to a path or entrance where its fragrance can be really appreciated. Lilacs make a superb specimen shrub for sunny borders. Height and spread: 7m (22’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

2 x 9cm potted lilac plants (KB1534)

How to Grow
Grow lilac plants in rich fertile, well drained, neutral or alkaline soil in full sun. Young Lilacs will benefit from a sheltered position.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season while young plants become established. Prune lilac bushes in winter or spring by removing any damaged, diseased or misplaced stems before lightly shaping the remaining stems. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the shrub.
