This submerged aquatic perennial is an invaluable oxygenator. Ceratophyllum demersum is capable of growing at great depth which makes it particularly useful for oxygenating deep ponds and lakes. The long stems of feathery foliage float freely in the water unless anchored with weights to keep it in the desired location. Commonly known as Hornwort, it has the ability to take up nutrients quickly, making it an excellent competitor with algae. Height and spread: 100cm (39"). Planting depth: Zones 3 & 4 to 2m below water level.

5 ceratophyllum plants (78127)

How to Grow
Hornwort is easy to introduce to ponds. Simply cast bunches of stems into water of depths up to 2m where it will float freely. However if it is preferred in a particular location then adding weights to the bunches will help to anchor it in place. Ceratophyllum grows well in sun or shade.
More Info
Hornwort grows vigorously. Remove any excess growth when necessary. No other maintenance is required.
