Description
Every garden needs a camellia plant or two! Or three? Camellia 'Tricolour' is the result of a unique growing concept which gives the illusion of three flower colours growing on one plant. We supply you with three varieties of camellia, growing in a single pot. As the plants mature, they intertwine with each other to stunning effect, seemingly producing an array of pink, white and red flowers on a single plant. Camellias are hugely popular low-maintenance shrubs, providing beautiful blooms from early spring, which look stunning against their glossy evergreen foliage. When planted at the back of a border, the dark evergreen leaves of this slow-growing shrub will set off your summer flowering perennials to great effect. Camellia flowers can be cut for a vase if you like to enjoy them indoors. Perfect plants for acidic borders, camellias can also be grown as spectacular specimen plants in large containers of ericaceous compost. Height: 200cm (78"). Spread: 150cm (59").

Culinary note: The flowers can be used as garnishes but are also dried and then cooked in Asian cuisine. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Camellia plants require a moist, well drained, acid soil in a sheltered, shaded position. In areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, grow Camellia plants in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3 and position in dappled shade.
More Info

Water regularly until plants are fully established. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Feed Camellias occasionally with fertiliser for acid-loving plants. Protect plants from cold winter winds and strong early morning sunlight, as this may cause the buds to drop in early spring.

Camellias will appreciate an autumn mulch to protect their roots from winter cold. Camellias require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems and remove faded blooms immediately after flowering.
