Description

Our Easy Grow range of flower, fruit and vegetable seeds have been specially selected for superb performance with minimum fuss! Perfect for beginner growers and experienced gardeners alike, these reliable varieties are easy to germinate and grow to maturity, delivering colourful blooms and bountiful crops with every packet you sow.

Commonly known as the Swan River Daisy, this half-hardy annual makes a pretty addition to beds, borders and patio pots in summer. Brachyscome iberidifolia 'Bravo' boasts a colourful mix of daisy blooms above its finely cut foliage . These compact plants show excellent drought resistance. Although the flowers are short-lived, regular deadheading will promote plenty of fresh blooms to take the place of those that have faded. Height and spread: 25cm (10”).

Sowing

Sow Brachycome seed from February to April on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost and cover with a fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place the pot or seed tray inside a polythene bag or in a propagator at a temperature of 18-21C (64-70F) until after germination which usually takes 7-21 days. Do not exclude light, as this helps germination.

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant into 7.5cm (3") pots and grow on in cooler conditions. Pinch out the growing tips of young plants to encourage bushier growth. When Swan River Daisy plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting outdoors. Plant Brachycome at a distance of 23cm (9") apart in full sun in any fertile, well drained soil.

More Info
Water regularly until Brachycome plants are fully established. Deadhead faded Brachyscome flowers throughout the summer to encourage more blooms to be produced.
