Description

Imagine a low bush, as attractive as Box but bearing delicious Blueberries in summer! Blueberry BerryBux® is a productive Lowbush Blueberry with a compact growth habit – perfect as a patio plant or even planted as a fruiting hedge.

These hard-working little plants offer year round interest. Attractive flowers are borne in spring, which are loved by pollinating insects. By summer, the flowers are replaced by delicious, sweet blueberries that hang in clusters among the glossy, green foliage. Autumn sees the leaves turn to rich shades of red, orange and bronze, before falling to reveal an attractive winter tracery of bare stems.

Grow Blueberry BerryBux® in containers where space is limited. In areas with acid soils, these deciduous Blueberry bushes can be planted as a low hedge next to your favourite seating area – perfect for snacking straight from the plant! Height and spread: 50cm (20").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Blueberries require a well drained, acid soil in a sunny or semi shaded position. In areas where acid soil does not naturally occur, grow blueberry plants in patio containers using a mix of ericaceous compost and John Innes No. 3.
More Info
If possible, blueberries should be watered with rainwater because the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Blueberries will begin to produce fruit in their third year. As fruits begin to develop, cover the plants with netting to protect the berries from birds. From their third year, begin to prune out the oldest stems each autumn to promote new growth and maintain a healthy plant framework.
