Description

Aquilegia vulgaris ‘Alba’ is a stunning perennial that enchants garden enthusiasts with its pristine white flowers, which exude an air of sophistication and grace. This exquisite plant is particularly cherished for its ability to illuminate borders, woodland gardens, and charming cottage-style landscapes. With its upright and airy growth habit, complemented by delicate, fern-like foliage, it serves as a versatile addition to any garden setting. The blooms, which emerge in a delightful display from late spring to early summer, create a captivating visual spectacle that draws the eye and elevates the overall aesthetic of the garden.

This deciduous perennial showcases a bushy growth pattern, making it an ideal choice for those seeking to add structure and softness to their outdoor spaces. The nodding, spurred flowers, pure as freshly fallen snow, create a striking contrast against the lush greenery, enhancing the garden's visual appeal. The fern-like leaves not only provide a gentle texture but also contribute to the plant's overall charm, making it a perfect candidate for brightening up shaded areas and mixed borders. Its ability to thrive in both full sun and partial shade further underscores its adaptability, allowing it to flourish in a variety of garden conditions.

In addition to its aesthetic qualities, Aquilegia vulgaris ‘Alba’ is a boon for local wildlife, attracting bees and other pollinators that play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy ecosystem. This hardy perennial is well-suited to the UK climate, preferring moist yet well-drained soil while demonstrating a remarkable adaptability to various soil types. Its propensity to self-seed allows it to gently naturalize within the garden, creating a sense of continuity and harmony. With its elegant presence and ecological benefits, this perennial is a true gem for any discerning gardener looking to enhance their outdoor sanctuary. Height: 90 cm (36 in) Spread: 45 cm (18 in).
