How to Grow
Japanese Maples are prized for their spectacular foliage! Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' is one of the best producing bright pink new foliage in spring that darkens to deep purple by early summer. The spring leaves are accompanied by small red flowers. With the onset of autumn, the deciduous foliage is transformed to a dazzling cloak of fiery red, delivering a blast of colour to fading planting schemes.
This hardy tree is ideal for minimalist Japanese gardens and urban courtyard gardens. Wherever you plant it, this upright, well-branched variety deserves a prominent spot! Height and spread: 4m (13’).

Grow Acer palmatum trees in any moist, fertile, well drained soil in sun or dappled shade. It is quite important to give plants shelter from strong winds which can scorch the leaves. Alternatively grow the Japanese Maple in large containers, using a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
More Info Water regularly throughout the growing season until acer trees are well established. Protect plants from strong winds. Acers require little pruning other than to maintain their shape. Lightly trim stems if necessary from late autumn to midwinter
