Description
How to Grow
Grow Abelia x grandiflora 'Sparkling Silver' in sunny borders or containers for year round interest and colour. This hardy, reliable shrub boasts pink tinged leaves in early spring that turned to green and silver by summer. Clusters of small, perfumed flowers create a pretty display that lasts throughout the summer. In autumn the foliage takes centre stage again, turning to rosy pink with the onset of colder weather. This compact shrub remains semi-evergreen providing good winter colour too. Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 100cm (39”).

Plant Abelia x grandiflora in garden borders in any fertile, well drained garden soil, in full sun. Alternatively grow Abelia plants in patio containers using soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
More Info Feed and water container-grown plants regularly. Deadhead faded Abelia flowers to prolong the flowering season. In exposed areas or those where winters are severe, apply a deep bark mulch around the base of Glossy Abelia plants in autumn to protect the roots from winter cold. Take care not to mound mulch up against the main stem. Alternatively protect with horticultural fleece. In late spring, trim Abelia x grandiflora lightly and remove any shoots which spoil the symmetry of the plant.
