A most attractive white Wisteria with bright green, pinnate foliage that has a slightly downy texture - hence its common name of Silky Wisteria. Long pendants of glistening white flowers decorate the twining stems in early summer, filling the air with a gentle perfume. The flowers are particularly large, creating a showy display that is often considered superior to other species. Wisteria brachybotrys 'Kapiteyn Fuji' is a spectacular climber with a relatively compact habit, making it far more manageable than some varieties. Perfect for covering a prominent wall, training onto a pergola, or covering archways. Height and spread: 4m (13'). Supplied as a grafted plant.

Grow wisteria plants in a sunny or semi shaded site in any moist, well drained soil. Wisteria flower buds can be damaged by hard spring frosts so choose a sheltered position. Prior to planting add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. Provide the twining stems with an appropriate and sturdy support, such as strong trellis or wires attached to walls and pergolas.
More Info Feed and water regularly until fully established. In autumn or spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost to the base of the plant. Prune wisteria in July and again in February. During the first two years, prune wisteria to create a framework of permanent stems. Tie in selected lateral shoots to sturdy supports and cut back unwanted growth. Once the desired framework has been created, continue pruning wisteria twice a year to contain the plants growth within its allotted space. Caution: harmful if eaten.
