An unusual dark-purple leaved Weigela whose flowers are pink and tubular, appearing in late spring to early summer. Making it on to the RHS's Plants for Pollinators plant list, this is an ideal plant if you wish to attract an array of pollinating insects into your garden. The leaves darken as they age to almost black. Weigela florida 'Alexandra' is a deciduous, upright, easy-to-grow shrub that requires very little maintenance and thrives in most moist soils in sun or part-shade. Height & Spread: 1.5m (5').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Weigela in a sunny or semi shaded position, in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil. Plant Weigela at the same depth as they were planted in their pots. Backfill the planting hole and water well to settle the soil.
More Info
Water regularly throughout the growing season until young plants are fully established. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Weigela requires little pruning. After flowering cut back stems to a healthy bud and remove a fifth of the old stems to ground level.
