Description

Bush.

You don’t need a big garden to grow this crop! Tomato 'Veranda' is a dwarf bush variety that you can grow in a 2 litre pot on your patio table. Producing up to 75 bite sized fruits per plant, this compact variety makes a worthwhile contribution to your kitchen. The rounded red cherry tomatoes have a delicious, sweet flavour. Tomato ‘Veranda’ also shows good disease resistance to Fusarium, Verticillium and late Blight. Height: 45cm (18"). Spread: 35cm (14").

T&M's easy starter plants are delivered ready for planting at the correct time so that you can enjoy bigger, earlier and tastier vegetables. Gradually acclimatise plants to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days prior to transplanting them outdoors.

1 x 9cm potted tomato plant (KB5438)
3 x 9cm potted tomato plants (KB5461)
3 tomato postiplug plants (KC7412)
1 x 5 litre potted tomato plant (KB9914)
1 x 2 litre potted tomato plant (KC0310)

How to Grow

Pot up, and grow tomato plants on in warm frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days.

Choose a sheltered position in full sun on fertile, reliably moist, well drained soil, and transplant at a distance of 60cm (24") apart. Alternatively grow tomatoes in patio bags and containers in good quality compost such as John Innes No. 2. Drive a (5') cane into the soil adjacent to each plant to support them as they grow, and tie each main stem to its support with soft garden twine.

More Info

Water tomato plants frequently, to keep the compost evenly moist. Feed tomatoes regularly with a high potash plant food once the first truss of fruit has formed. Bush tomatoes may require staking but no sideshooting is required. Tomatoes can be harvested as they ripen from July to September.
