Description

Basket/Container

Tomato ‘Rainbow Drops Yellow’ is a great new hanging basket variety producing a cascade of colourful, sweet-tasting cherry tomatoes. This innovative variety has a distinctive fruiting habit – most of the fruit is produced above the leaves so it’s easy to harvest and its glossy, bright toms are shown to best advantage, tempting passers-by. Better still, plants are quick to produce new fruit after the first harvest, so you can keep munching them all summer! Each sweet tomato weighs 8-12g and has a Brix of around 8. Plant ‘Rainbow Drops Yellow’ into baskets, window boxes and pots and snack on these moreish fruits straight off the vine whilst pottering in the garden! Height 30cm (12in). Spread: 40-50cm. (16-20in).

Companion planting: Try growing tomatoes with French marigolds to deter whitefly, and basilchives or mint to deter aphids and other pests.

How to Grow

Pot up, and grow tomato plants on in warm frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days.

Plant into hanging baskets/containers and grow in a sheltered position in full sun.

For more information and guidance check out our Gardening Guides.

More Info

Water tomato plants frequently, to keep the compost evenly moist. Feed tomatoes regularly with a high potash plant food once the first fruits have formed. Tomatoes can be harvested as they ripen from July to September. Basket varieties do not require staking or side shooting.
